Reliance Jio Postpaid Plans; Here’s all that you need to know

Reliance Jio Postpaid Plans

Reliance Jio just recently started activating postpaid plans for individual subscribers which were earlier available only for Enterprise Subscribers. Jio’s Enterprise team was only authorized to activate postpaid connections for corporate employees. Hence, even when Jio launched these plans a year ago on their website, they were available for Enterprise customers.

As we all know, Jio will start charging its customers from 1st April 2017, the company has launched its postpaid plans for Jio Prime members as well as non-members. Jio is the only company whose prepaid as well as postpaid plans are same in price as well as benefits. However, postpaid plans starts from RS 303+GST per month and hence its of no use for customers who want to go with RS 149 plan which is only available for the prepaid subscribers.

How to get a Jio Postpaid Sim ?

In order to get a Jio postpaid Sim, simply visit any nearest Reliance Digital Xpress or Digital Xpress mini store  and provide your Aadhar number to complete the activation process using eKYC. Jio customers are expected to pay a refundable security deposit of:
Rs. 400 for the Rs. 303 plan
Rs. 600 for the Rs. 499 plan
Rs. 1150 for the Rs. 999 plan
Thereafter, customer is expected to pay the monthly bill as generated.
Compulsory conditions – All postpaid Jio Prime customers are required to enroll into E-BILL and AUTO-DEBIT by default.

Alternatively, you can change your subscription from Prepaid to Post-paid or Post-paid to Prepaid.
You are required to visit the nearest Jio Store with the following documents:

1. A valid Proof of Identity.

2. A valid Proof of Address.

3. A recent passport size photograph.

You will have to fill a paper CAF (EKYC facility is not available for the same.)

How is  Jio’s postpaid connection beneficial than prepaid ?

As Jio is the only Telecom Operator offering same plans in both prepaid as well as postpaid, most of the people will always opt for prepaid. However, if you do some mathematics, you will find that postpaid is always better than prepaid.

In prepaid you have plans with validity of 28 days and hence you get only 28 GB of data. However, in postpaid you get 30 GB of Data in a complete bill cycle. (Assuming  you opt for Rs 303 plan )

If you are a Sole Proprietor and also a ‘Registered Tax Payer’ in GST, you will get input credit of the Tax you paid on your Jio bill . Additionally,  you  get 5%  cashback if you use a cashback credit card to pay the bills.

In addition to this, you need not worry about monthly recharges anymore. So it is always a wise decision to opt for postpaid subscription than a prepaid subscription. In case you want to get rid of billing system for some reason, you can always migrate to the prepaid plan.  In any case you won’t loose your Jio prime membership for sure.

    • Yes. You will get the whole amount refund if you convert your number to prepaid, close your postpaid connection or port out to another Telecom Operator of your choice.

        • If you close you Jio postpaid connection, Jio will refund your security deposit via cheque If you convert your Jio postpaid number into Jio prepaid, Jio may either credit your security deposit as a prepaid balance or refund it via cheque/bank transfer. I suggest you to visit nearest Jio Center before migrating from postpaid to prepaid.

  1. Hi,

I have moved from prepaid to postpaid 309 plan with prime membership. Will my plan 309 be changed after the end of prime membership period ends?

    Please advise.

    • These are all promotional plans and nothing is permanent in this world. It all depends upon the market trends and competition and all other factors that would affect plan pricing.

    • You need to pay security deposit while activating a new postpaid connection from Jio. Without paying security deposit you cannot get enrolled in any postpaid plan. Your postpaid sim card doesn’t get activated in the first place itself. Similarly, you need to pay security deposit while migrating from prepaid to postpaid connection.

    • Currently there is no such option to change the existing plan. However, you may visit nearest Jio Center and ask them to help you change the plan.
Only Jio Center staff can guide you properly.

  4. I’m a sole proprietor, how do I claim GST ITC?

Is there a provision to submit GSTIN for Jio Postpaid?

I am unable to find any information on the Jio website about this.

    Any help would be useful.
