IRCTC partners with MobiKwik to launch ‘E-Cash Payments’ for tatkal bookings

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has partnered with Mobikwik which is India’s largest independent payments company for online tatkal ticket booking service. This will help reduce IRCTC’s load of managing over a thousand ticket bookings per minute and will also help users in ensuring that their bookings do not get rejected due to payment delays.

“MobiKwik collaborated with Indian Railways to digitize payments on the IRCTC app and IRCTC FoodOnTrack app this year, and now we are powering payments for tatkal online, that will help users book tickets almost instantly. We are proud to support the largest rail network in Asia in their endeavor to digitize payments and provide the best payments experience to their users,” said Co-founder at MobiKwik, Upasana Taku.

Tatkal Booking service was launched so that the passengers who have to plan their journey at the eleventh hour and cannot secure reserved seats.On an average, over 15 percent daily ticket bookings for Indian Railways happen under tatkal booking service.

MobiKwik’s instantaneous payment will help ensure instant booking of tatkal tickets for the passengers and also help IRCTC  handle hassle free tatkal ticket bookings.Taking into consideration the high demand of this service, it is imperative that the service is supported by a robust payment system. With MobiKwik, IRCTC’s load of handling this service would be reduced to some extent for sure.

In order to book tickets under Tatkal using MobiKwik within few seconds, users must have their wallets pre-loaded with the desired amount using credit, debit or net banking.
